I'm so excited...I've been asked by a friend to help with a children's book project !! I'm to come up with a "scrapbook ' form of illustration to accompany an adorable, heartwarming story. My creative mind is working on overtime to create a mock-up by friday.....so wish me luck! I'm pouring through the manuscript, cutting it up...looking for pictures and embellishments to bring this awesome story to life. Stay tuned!!

It's been quite a while since I've written anything....I'll blame it on the lazy days of summer!..I've been reading Taking Flight: Inspiration & Techniques to Give Your Creative Spirit Wings, by Kelly Rae Roberts. It's truly a great tool to get you going. There are stories, projects, and journaling areas...all to get those creative juices flowing again. I love Kelly's work...and I'm really enjoying her book, as well. I'm back at work in my studio, hopefully increasing my productivity over the coming months. Creativity is a gift...not to be squandered or lost!

Beach Day

...So I get this blog thing going...get pictures posted and seem to be on a roll. I'm supposed to be very busy creating, so that I can hopefully make some money....hmmm. So what did I do for a good part of the day today?...I spent most of it at the beach! It was absolutely gorgeous and the ocean was so refreshing. While I sat there in the sun and sand, breathing in that wonderful ocean air, I did THINK about what I'd work on when I got home. Now, I must "get to it" as they say...creating something wonderful. Wish me luck!

New Beginnings

I've been creating scrapbooks and other crafts for many years...sometimes selling my work, but mostly as gifts to family and friends. Recently, at the age of 53 (yikes!) I found myself unemployed, like so many other people. Friends have urged me to take my creative talents a step further, and actually make something of it...a real business!! THEY think I can do this...the trick is...for ME to agree with them! So, here I am, starting a blog, something I only recently learned about. I'm hoping that by reaching out, sharing my ideas and talents, I'll be able to make a go of this...my ScrapYard Studio!
